Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche
At age 15, Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche received the esoteric teachings of Tantra thus laying the solid foundation for his spiritual practice. At a more mature age, he entered the Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, an affiliated school of Palyul Namdroling Monastery, and later an advanced college of Tibetan Buddhism, where he had outstanding academic performance. Under the guidance of his Root Guru, His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, and many other outstanding gurus of his time, Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche also accepted a complete training in the study of the sutras and tantras, receiving the empowerments, oral transmissions and pith instructions of the whole Kama and Terma teachings of the Nyingma Tradition. During his study at the Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche served as the Vice Dean for 3 years. In his fifth year of study, Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche displayed his profound scriptural knowledge by giving a lengthy discourse on Sangwa Nyingpo (Magical Net Tantra, a Mahayoga Teaching) in front of His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama and an assembly of thirty thousand people, lay and ordained, from the various Buddhist traditions in Tibet. At his graduation, Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche was honorably conferred the highest degree, and served the post of the Dean of the Ngagyur Nyingma Institute of Palyul Namdroling Monastery, India for 3 years thereafter, accumulating his teaching and administrative experiences accordingly. Until today, Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche still expounds the scriptures of both Exoteric Buddhism and Esoteric Buddhism every year for the more than 6,000 ordained students, and also confers empowerments and oral transmissions, He frequently preaches around the world, giving instruction in Kama teachings at the branches of Palyul Namdroling Monastery worldwide, teaches Buddhist courses, conducts retreats, gives instructions on Tibetan yoga and Tibetan Chi practice, etc., as well as publishes Buddhadharma books and complimentary books. As to cherish the memory of the Root Guru and fulfill the wishes of the Root Guru, Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche to respectively carry out building work of the reliquary stupa of His Holiness at Nunnery Institute in Namdroling Monastery and construction of the“Palyul Thupten Shedrup Choekhor Dargyeling”at Bodh Gaya. With a compassionate vow as great as Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche practices diligently and dedicates all living beings for staying away from suffering and gaining happiness, achieving ultimate liberation and attaining the Buddhahood. |
The Fourth Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche is the Head Abbot of " Palyul Namdroling Monastery". The Fourth Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche was born in India, and recognized when he was a young child, by His Holiness Penor Rinpoche and many other outstanding gurus of his time as the authentic reincarnation of the Third Kyabje Gyang khang Chotrul Rinpoche, and was enthroned ceremoniously thereupon. Since then, he studied the Buddhadharma with His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, who looked after him and tutored him as the spiritual son of His Holiness (the successor to the citta-dharma, that is).
